Originally from India, the land of mysticism and magic, SRINJOY (Gangopadhyay) was born in 1986 into a family of artists and knew from a very young age that he too was born to be an artist. Throughout his life he has traveled the world, worked in the design and animation industry, and has professionally worked under the tutelage of many renowned modern, street, and pop artists. Srinjoy earned his Master’s of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art & Design in Atlanta, Georgia in 2015. While at SCAD, he was awarded the prestigious juried residency at the Elizabeth Foundation of Arts in New York.
The central overarching pursuit of his work is examining the theme of utopia in a contemporary context through map and model-making, with his influences ranging from pop culture to deep ecology. His works, at times, simply hold a mirror to reflect the contemporary experience, or they can completely take the viewer to an alternative world. The utopian impulse explores the tension between the extreme desire to materialize the ideal and the infinite impossibility of conceiving the perfect imagination. Srinjoy’s work also consists of reimagining utopian pasts or imagining alternative realms.

In the last few years Srinjoy’s works have been exhibited in multiple Art Fairs across the USA including Art Miami Context Art Fair, LA Art Show, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Art Wynwood, Art Expo New York, Affordable Art Fair New York. The artist has gallery representations in a number of prestigious Contemporary Pop & Urban Art galleries in the USA, Europe and Canada. His work is in private collections across the US, Europe and Canada, UAE and India, including celebrity collectors such as American entrepreneur, author and rapper, & co-founder of Marquis Jet, Jesse Itzler and his wife Sarah Blakely, founder of Spanx.
