BLAIR BRADSHAW
Blair Bradshaw's paintings focus on the graphic simplification of large organizational systems. His work operates on two levels: usually a colorful icon is presented; beyond that, it is the complicated reality this icon
represents. He employs a grid system which organizes his subject while attempting to tame the vigorous brush work contained within. Stacked, juxtaposed, separated and recombined, familiar elements are given new sgnificance.
Blair Bradshaw says: “I examine the conflicting ideas of ordered representation and the chaos they try to classify. I find endless
inspiration in the notion of “everything in its place”. Art that champions objectivity over sentimentality has always resonated with me and influenced
my work. As my process evolved, I came to realize that the pursuit of work void of subjectivity is just as futile as a finding a truly honest vocabulary.”
Born in 1967, Bradshaw studied film at the University of Texas where his interest turned to still photography and ultimately to painting. He currently lives in California, and his work can be found in corporate and private
collections throughout the United States and Europe.
