Artist Statement:

“My paintings invite the viewer to consider the complex relationship between time and timelessness. It is the visual interaction of the elements, in their simplicity, that interests me. Water, sky, and architecture change their appearance with shifts in weather and light. For me, painting captures the very essence of time and its passage. There are no ordinary moments.”

About Kathleen Keifer:

Kathleen Keifer’s inspirations are the color and luminosity of the Southern California coastline and its unique beach culture. She focuses on time, timelessness and the seasons in an exploration of coastal icons. Her paintings invite the viewer to consider the interaction of memory and seasons, thus evoking the intricate relationship between man, nature, and time. She infuses each work with a sentiment of nostalgia, appealing to the viewer’s aesthetic and emotional sensibility.

Born and raised in Chicago, Keifer is a modern landscape impressionist who studied at St. Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as privately with noted artists Tony Fitzpatrick and Roderick Guthrie. She currently lives in Southern California.
