VINCENT MAGNI
Artist Statement
Something happens in those faces that we cannot see, behind pathways we can only guess at. Thoughts leap forth, worlds come together. Day, night? Men, women? It doesn’t matter, as long as there is emotion.
The image in all its simplicity has no need of knowledge. It is the reflection of a naïve conscience….before thought. I would like my painting to be the point of departure for an adventure, which the viewer is responsible for pursuing.”
About Vincent Magni:
Born in Saint Etienne, France, in 1963, he now lives in a small village in the center of France, after studying and starting his career in Paris. Vincent Magni’s paintings are not only extremely seductive through their beauty but also intriguing and mysterious. He paints a silent world where figures without faces stroll quietly through the streets and the esplanades of fortified villages.
The paintings are bordering on abstract in their spontaneous composition, the flat flint of their colors and their concertina perspectives. Their vigorous structure, the richness of the colors and the sumptuous texture of the materials combine to instantly and undeniably appeal to the senses. Magni’s work is part of many collections throughout the world. He is also very recognized for his sculptures
