TJASA OWEN

Artist Statement

Each piece, for me, is unique and carries its own story. My landscapes are inspired by my love for the Atlantic coastlines as well as by my travels abroad. I incorporate my memories of different places, textures and colors I have seen all into one piece. I sometimes add postscripts and incomplete phrases to imbue these new places with a sense of time and history.

About Tjasa Owen

Having grown up in New York City and regularly vacationed on the coast of Rhode Island, Tjasa Owen is drawn to ever-changing skies and coastal scenes. In her artwork, she often celebrates the simple and non materialistic things of life. The barns, the trees, the dunes and the ocean are attachments to her, in a way where she does not want everyone to have the same experience. Sometimes, her subtle notations on the paintings invite the viewer to create a personal relationship with the work of art.

Tjasa Owen now lives on the West Coast and her work has been shown extensively in the US and internationally. Her artwork has been acquired by many corporate collections as well as by many distinguished private collectors.

All artwork for the April 21 to May 6, 2012 exhibit, as displayed on the artist page, is available and currently viewable at the Canfin Gallery.
