LITA VAN ENGELENHOVEN

Artist Statement:

“There is no movement in my work. It is a frozen second in time. I paint the silent things that surround me, as well as from my fantasy. My paintings look so easy, but nevertheless, it feels as if my life depends on it. When I have finished a painting, it seems as if it has existed forever.”

About Lita van Engelenhoven:

Born in Utrecht, the Netherlands in 1948, Van Engelenhoven has lived and worked in Tiel for over twenty years.

She is fascinated with light, endlessly exploring its color and form. Her compositions are set against backgrounds painted in powerful, yet discreet blends of turquoises, warm browns and yellows. Her work is full of richly nuanced surfaces radiating a sense of tranquility and mystery.

Lita van Engelenhoven's paintings are held in personal and corporate collections in the United States, as well in Europe, including ABN AMRO, ING, Ernst & Young, the City of Tiel and the Henriette Polak museum in Zutphen.
