LOUIS MENDRISSE
There is something mysterious, indescribable and at the same time disconcerting in Mendrisse’s paintings. A sort of meditation leading us into the depths of our souls, in the remotest regions of our unconscious which only we are able to explore, or a mystical quest that extemporal characters would be pursuing endlessly and in silence. Clara Pozniakoff – Arts Journal
About Louis Mendrisse:
Louis Mendrisse was born in Paris in 1955, where he still resides.
Mendrisse’s paintings, which have been described as « mysterious », « fantastical » and even « strange », may be unusual, but are hauntingly memorable. While the work evokes a mystical dreamworld, the images and faces he portrays are always harmonious, reflecting more joy than distress and sorrow.
Mendrisse’s work, which has won numerous art awards, has been exhibited in numerous galleries and renowned public shows. His paintings can be found in collections across Europe and North America.
