ALAIN DONNAT
Artist Statement:
“There are two lives - the life you live and the life of which you dream. Aware of the limitations of the first one, I decided to paint the life we dream of in my own naïve way, with my colors and my heart.”
About Alain Donnat:
Born in 1947, Donnat lives and works in the South of France, where he paints and maintains a studio.
When his first career, which found him running a professional company, left him unfulfilled, Donnat decided to devote his life to painting.
Admittedly uninfluenced by art traditions, Donnat is self taught and stylistically independent. Scenes related to his childhood are a frequent theme, as are everyday, routine places and festive occasions.
Jovial and free-spirited, Donnat says he simply wants to convey a world beyond the difficult realities of daily life through the evocation of the imagination.
Donnat’s work is often displayed in group exhibitions all across Europe, and he has had successful solo exhibitions in France and Spain. His work, the subject of extensive media coverage, can be found in many international collections, including the Musee d’Art Naif of Nice, France.
